Abstract

356,897. Air cushions. SAMPSON, R. W., Canadian Club, Madison Avenue, New York, U.S.A. Aug. 7, 1930, No. 23619. [Class 52 (iv).] An air cushion has a series of longitudinally extending tubular chambers 8 .. 11 protruding from one face and a second series of chambers 2, 4, arranged transversely, protruding from the opposed face, the chambers of both series intercommunicating with each other within the body of the cushion. The arrangement provides surfaces which stretch more easily in one direction than in the direction transverse thereto, the directions in which stretching is easier being transverse to each other in the top and bottom faces respectively.
