Abstract

351,211. Shearing; rolling. SCHLOEMANN AKT.-GES., 13, Steinstrasse, D³sseldorf, Germany. May 30, 1930, No. 16809. Convention date, Aug. 10, 1929. [Class 83 (iv).] In shears for cutting into lengths moving roller material, cutters 1 are mounted on shafts 2 coupled by gearing 4 and driven by synchronized electro motors 3. The movement of the cutters is initiated and stopped automatically by the roller material by contact of the end of the material with a switch for each separate cut. The circuit is shown in Fig. 3. A three phase generator 11 is driven from the rolling apparatus and supplies current to the induction motors 3 with squirrel-cage rotors on the cutter shafts. With heavy loads the generator is controlled by a switch 13 through a small exciting continuous current supplied from a dynamo 15 or from the mains. To bring the cutters to the at-rest position after a cut a switch 12 is closed to supply a direct current braking arrangement in known manner when the three-phase current from the generator is interrupted.
