Igniters combined with cigarette cases; pocket igniters, frictional.-A cigarette case 1 is adapted to contain a stack of cigarettes acted upon by a spring-pressed follower 11 so as to hold the uppermost cigarette c against a stop 15 in an igniting position between a frictional igniter 59 and a suction. head 54 communicating with a pump 26 adapted, on releasing a spring catch 51 by means of push button 50, to raise the hinged lid 5 and draw air through the cigarette, the igniter being simultaneously operated by the return movement of the catch 51 for igniting the cigarette. The piston 31 of the pump is connected by a pivoted lever 40 with a slidable bar 37 normally depressed by a lug 47 on'the lid 5 so as to compress the spring 36 of the pump. A spring pawl 68 carried by the catch 51 co-operates with a ratchet wheel for rotating the friction wheel 65 to ignite the wick 69, an extinguisher 72 being provided on the lid 5. A reserve, stack of cigarettes is carried in the hinged side 2 of the case, the two stacks being separated by a bar 17 connected by a tie-bar 22 to guide rods 18 on which the follower 11 slides. The bar 17 and rods 18 can be drawn outwardly by means of a finger piece 23 to allow re-filling of the case or bringing the reserve stack into position for use, the spring 12 being compressed by lugs 21 on the rods 18 engaging the follower 11. The cigarettes are moved slightly laterally by an incline 58 on the suction head 54 as they are fed into the igniting position and the uppermost cigarette is retained in position by a spring 74.
