Abstract

324,848. Algrain, P. March 20, 1929. Axle-trucks.-In railway &c. vehicles adapted for traversing curved tracks in tunnels or other placed of limited width, adjacent vehicles are combined to form a double vehicle comprising two separate undedramies at the end of each of which is disposed a Bissel truck pivoted about a vertical pin passing through the centre of the wheel axle. The longitudinals of adjacent end trucks of the same double vehicle are rigidly but releasably connected together. The underframes A<1> A<2> of a double vehicle are mounted on four Bissel trucks E, C, D, F and are connected together by the longitudinals of the Bissel trucks as shown in a rigid yet releasable manner, the ordinary coupling P not being used. One double vehicle is coupled to the succeeding double vehicle by the ordinary coupling P, the adjacent Bissel trucks being disconnected. Each Bissel truck is provided with a. horizontal arm K<1> - - K<4> jointed to vertical arms L<1>, L<2>, the vertical arms of the Bissel trucks for each underframe being connected together by links M<1>, M<2> to ensure that the wheel axles of the Bissel trucks assume the correct radial direction.
