Abstract
324,780. Danson, E. T., Bolton, E. A., and Victory Valves, Ltd. Jan. 1, 1929. Electrically-actuated valves. -An electric actuation for valves comprises an electric motor coupled to the valve spindle by a clutch which allows the motor to speed up before taking the load and is automatically disengaged when the hand gear is used and by a slipping clutch which may in part actuate the limit switch. In the form shown in the Figure, the motor is geared to a worm wheel a having two diametrically opposed lugs b adapted to co-operate with similar lugs on a gear wheel c carried by a spindle h. The two sets of lugs are normally held in line by a spring i but are withdrawn, when the handwheel y is rotated, by a cam recess j in the boss of the hand wheel moving out of engagement with a cam m on a boss k secured to the spindle. The gear wheel c engages a wheel d carrying spring-pressed plungers e normally engaging recesses in a plate f keyed to the valve spindle g- The limit switch o is operated by a screwed spindle connected by gear wheels p, q, r to the valve spindle. In a modification, the final movement of the limit switch when closing the valve is effected by one of the plungers e when it slips out of engagement. The motor circuit is broken by a switch t when the hand gear is used.
