Abstract

291,615. Hedges, A. H. June 16, 1927. Portable igniters, electric.-An electrode 17 and a socket 20 for receiving a wick lamp 18 are fixed upon the top of a casing 5 and electrically-connected with means within the casing for producing a high-tension current so that sparks may be produced between the electrode and the lamp body for igniting the wick. The socket 20 consists of a metal plate bent at opposite sides to engage the lamp base 21 and at the inner end to form a stop 20<a> for locating the lamp in correct position. If the electrode support is not insulated, it may be covered by a transparent or other casing 23 so as to leave only the end of the electrode 17 exposed. The casing 5 may have a hinged, or detachable, lid 11 or base 9.
