Abstract

Endless belt pushplate and trough conveyers; driving-gear.- In a conveyer oomprising a band &c. d with cross - bars f working within an enclosing casing, the band &c. and the driving sprocket or pulley are constructed so that the sprocket can slip when the band meets an obstruction. As shown in Figs. 4 and 6, teeth g, g, h, on the band d engage recesses i, i, j, in the grooved driving wheel e, and these recesses are curved so that the teeth can rise if the band is held fast. The teeth h are formed by the heads of bolts which secure the cross bars f to the band. The teeth g are formed by the bent ends of the base-plates of the crossbars f. As shown in Fig. 9, a flat band d working in a corresponding groove in the driving wheel is provided with one set of teeth h only. As shown in Fig. 12, shallow recesses m are formed in the flanges of the driving wheel and are engaged by the cross-bars f. The conveyer casing is provided with a fixed scraper for removing material from the groove j<0> of the driving wheel e, Fig. 6, and the guide-wheel at the other end of the run of the band is mounted in adjustable bea.rings.
