Abstract

245,492. Black, H. M. Oct. 4, 1924. Illumination, changing advertisements by controlling. - In illuminated signs &c. having tra.nslucent letters &c. which appear to expand or diminish symmetrically by altering the illuminated area, a number of sets of lamps f are provided separated from one another by strips g. The sets of lamps are illuminated successively so that during one period they are all illuminated and during the other periods the innermost set with and without the remaining sets is illuminated. The outline of the letter is always distinguishable, and appears to expand or diminish equally in all directions across the surface. Differently coloured lamps may be employed. Specification 18310/09 is referred to.
