Abstract

Hollow bodies are made from viscose and other cellulose solutions by coating the interior of a hollow mould with the solution, coagulating the film by a suitable precipitant, removing the moist film, treating the same to render it permanent or insoluble, and finally drying while the body is distended. In the case of cuprammonia cellulose solutions, the preliminary coagulation is effected by caustic soda solution, and the final regeneration of the cellulose by dilute sulphuric or other acid.
