Abstract

220,006. Hadfield, Sir R. A. Feb. 9, 1923. Alloys.-Iron alloys contain up to 3.5 per cent of carbon, above 1.3 up to 8 per cent of silicon, above 8 up to 40 per cent of chromium, and about 1-10 per cent of tungsten, with or without 20-50 per cent of nickel, and with or without 0.5-10 per cent of manganese. The tungsten may be replaced wholly or in part by molybdenum, and in some cases up to 6 per cent of one or more other metals, such as cobalt, vanadium. titanium, copper, and aluminium, may be included.
