Abstract
The present improved galvanic primary cell comprises a positive electrode, a negative electrode selected from the group consisting of aluminum and aluminum alloy and an electrolyte containing ions selected from the group consisting of gallium, indium, thallium and mixtures thereof. The ions are present in a concentration of about 0.001 to about 0.1 Mol per liter of electrolyte. The electrolyte preferably is an alkali metal such as potassium hydroxide. The positive electrode may be, for example sintered silver-silver oxide.
