Abstract

A closure cap (3) for a container is made of plastics material of which the bending strength decreases with rise of temperature and has a sealing portion (7), bearing against the inside wall of the container neck (1) connected to the end plate (5) of the cap so that when this end plate (5) is curved outwardly by rise in pressure in the container, the sealing portion (7) is raised by a distance (h) equal to or greater than its minimum sealing distance from the upper end of the mouth of the container and thereby releases the internal pressure in the container. The arrangement improves the safety of the containers in that pressure is relieved without blowing off of the cap or bursting of the container. <IMAGE>
