Abstract

Gas turbines.-The turbine, which is made up of a number of wheels d bolted together side by side, and, as shown in Figs. 1 and 4, runs between stationary brackets carrying guideblades i. An explosive mixture is admitted to one or more of the wheels by pipes m and ignited by the igniters 17. One or more of the pipes m can be closed by a valve n operated by a lever s, a valve w operated by a governor supplies more combustible as the speed increases. The motor in Fig. 7 has a stationary wheel and rotating guides i, the explosive employed through the shaft b and the passages 5, and air through passages 8 and nozzles 7. The forward inclined surfaces 18 of the rotary part direct air through the chambers in the wheel to clear them of combustion products.
