Abstract
181,883. Seewer, P. W. April 9, 1921. Casings.-A valve device for controlling the discharge of liquid under pressure is fitted with guiding - means s which act on the liquid and impart thereto a component circumferential motion so that as discharge takes place the body of liquid is spread out by centrifugal action. The Figure shows the invention applied to an hydraulically-actuated relief valve for a turbine installation. The valve C is formed integrally with a piston C<1> subject to pressure admitted through a pipe D under the control of a governor driven by the turbine, and a cam G mounted on the piston acting through linkage J. This linkage also actuates an indicator. The tendency to rotate is produced by a series of inclined vanes L arranged in a sprial passage arranged about the axis of discharge. The inlet passage may be arranged tangentially to a cylindrical chamber.
