Abstract

152,288. Krupp Akt.-Ges., F. Oct. 11, 1919, [Convention date]. Friction gearing; connecting and disconnecting arrangements.-A friction roller gearing comprises three friction rollers B, rotatably mounted on a flange C' so as to permit a slight radial movement, engaging with a friction roller A' on the driving-shaft. Two helical springs E, E', one left-handed and the other right-handed, surround the rollers, and bear against plate springs in the casing. Their outer ends bear against stops G, G<1>, and their inner ends against stops formed in a ring H. Bolts J pass through the springs and have spherical bearings which enable them to take up positions not parallel to the shaft. The extremities of the bolts J are spherical and rest in sockets g<3>, h<2> in the rings G, G<1>, and H. The ring H is adjustable by the twoarmed lever K, K<1> which is connected to the ring by links M. The lever is adapted to be fixed by means of the nut and screw arrangement N, thereby adjusting the internal diameter of the springs and consequently the pressures of the rollers to connect and disconnect the gearing. Specification 12394/00 is referred to. The Specification as open to inspection under Sect. 91 (3) (a) states that the helical springs E, E<1> and the rings G, G<1> and H may be cut from the same cylindrical piece of metal. This subject-matter does not appear in the Specification as accepted.
