Abstract

1507312 Soap-coated particles UNILEVER Ltd 2 Dec 1975 [4 Dec 1974] 52497/74 Heading C5D [Also in Division B2] Particulate material, e.g. detergent components, is coated with a composition comprising an alkali metal salt of a C 8 -C 22 fatty acid and a free C 8 -C 22 fatty acid in a weight ratio of 1:4-2:1, preferably 1:2-2:1, and preferably having a Krafft point of 25-70‹C., e.g. 40-65‹C. The coating may be applied as a melt by spraying on to an agitated mass of particles. The particles may comprise a bleach (e.g. an organo-N-chloro compound or an alkali metal perborate, percarbonate, perpyrophosphate or persilicate), bleach activator, foam inhibitor or enzyme. The fatty acids, from which the aforesaid salts may also be derived, may be hardened tallow, hardened rapeseed and coconut fatty acids. The composition may include up to 50 wt. percent of a triglyceride of a C 14 -C 20 carboxylic acid, e.g. hardened tallow fat.
