1499346 Pipe couplings R A DASPIT 2 Oct 1975 40415/75 Heading F2G A coupling for underwater pipelines 13, 14 comprises a coupling section 11 welded to one pipe 13, a second coupling section 12, 22 received on the other pipe 14 and having grip. ping projections 26 bearing thereagainst, seals between the coupling sections and means such as 19, 19<SP>1</SP> for drawing the coupling sections together and compressing the seals. The seals consist of an annular member 38 located in opposed slots 29, 29<SP>1</SP>, an annular neoprene ring 36 together with an annular member 34 received in a recess 20, a flat seal 37 in a recess 37<SP>1</SP> and a stepped ring 35 arranged as shown. One pipe may be provided with a closure cap and one pipe may be of smaller diameter to the other, see Figs. 3 and 4 (not shown), respectively.
