1495668 Collar assembly for container necks TOURNAIRE 28 Feb 1975 [1 March 1974] 8520/75 Heading B8T An externally threaded collar 1, Fig. 1, is provided with a non-rotatable, removablysecured, base ring 5 which can be passed over the collar thread and which can be modified such that a container neck 2 provided with the collar can be used with numerous types of tamper-proof outer closure. As shown in Fig. 3, the outer closure comprises a screw cap 7, a disc seal 8 and a sheath 9. The ring may be secured to the collar by co-operating lugs and recesses nd may have teeth on its outer perimeter to co-operate with the tamper-proof outer closure. The ring may be perforated so that a tie string can be passed through one of the perforations and a cooperating perforation in an annular base flange on the outer closure. The ring and flange can have lugs which can be brought into engagement upon closure but which must be broken upon opening. In a further modification, Fig. 16, the closure has a lower, internally toothed circumferential tear-strip and tab (29, 30), Fig. 14 (not shown), which co-operates with teeth on the collar's base ring 21. After removing the tear-strip and unscrewing the closure the latter may be re-secured by a tie string 31 passed through apertured lugs 22, 27 on the ring and closure. The container neck may have a pivoted handle and the collar's base ring can be recessed to accommodate the handle's limbs.
