Abstract

1480220 Mounting mould cores FARRELL PLASTIC MACHINERY CORP 30 Dec 1974 56074/74 Heading B5A A set of cores 16 extending from one face of a head 12 into corresponding cavities in an injection or blow mould 18, 20 (Fig. 1, not shown) are movably mounted on the head so that their spacing is adjustable to compensate for the difference in spacing relative to that of the mould cavities caused by different thermal expansions, e.g. when the mould is hotter than the cores. The end of each core 16 is fitted into a two-piece bushing 48 which fits with a clearance 50 into a bore 46 extending through plates 30, 36, and 40 which are attached to the head 12 on face 28. Similar plates are attached to two other faces. Flanges 52, 54 on the bushing fit with a clearance into counterbores in the plates 36, 40, thus the cores can move transversely but the flanges prevent canting. Core retaining plates 64, 66 have arcuate edges 68 which engage grooves 70 in the cores and are bolted to the plate 40 through slots 76 to permit adjustment.
