Abstract

1477369 Fluid-pressure servomotor systems PARKER HANNIFIN CORP 5 Aug 1974 [6 Sept 1973] 34423/74 Heading G3P [Also in Division F2] A pressure compensated directional control valve comprises a spool 27 for inter-connecting one of the work ports 101' to a supply passage 104 while inter-connecting the other work port with one of the exhaust passages 16'. High-pressure fluid H1-S is supplied through a variable orifice 107 formed by movement of the spool 27 and a pressure compensating spool 28, the opposite ends of which are respectively supplied with fluid from upstream and downstream of the variable orifice 107, provides an additional restriction at 114 in the supply to maintain the flow demand set by the variable orifice 107 and acts as a load check-valve upstream of the orifice 107. A spring-biased pilot relief valve 116 on excess pressure downstream of the orifice 107 vents the end chamber 112 so that supply pressure H1-S in chamber 110 can move the spool 28 to the right to shut-off flow to the orifice 107. In a control for a variable displacement pump, Fig. 6, the output from the pump at 122 is communicated to chamber 129 via a restriction 144 and acts on a spool 123 to control flow through ports 151 to a port 150 and via a secondary spool 127 to directional control valves and to control flow to pump inlet chamber 146 through ports 145, 173. The pressure in chamber 129, which acts on piston 125 to alter the angle of the swashplate 120, is thus controlled by the spool 123 and is also controlled by the secondary spool 127 which acts to connect chamber 129 to pump inlet 139 through ports 147, 137 according to the pressure differential across the variable orifices of the directional control valves which pressure differential is communicated to the ends of the spool 127. In a pressure relief valve (29), Fig. 2 (not shown) a spring-loaded pilot valve (37) acts to vent the space (36) on excess pressure to allow the valve-member (39) to open, the restriction (38) communicating the supply port (12') with the space (36). Further directional control valves with corresponding compensating valves, and an unloader valve are described and together the valves form a device for operating piston-cylinders on a fork-lift truck.
