Abstract

1472657 Power steering systems DANFOSS AS 17 May 1974 [19 May 1973] 22185/74 Heading B7H A power steering system includes a control valve 16 which is returned to its neutral position after the steering actuators have performed a predetermined steering movement, supply fluid to the actuators being returned to drain when the valve is in the neutral position by a by-pass circuit. A valve 16 is moved to one of two operative positions to allow fluid flow from a pump 17 to the main actuators 2, 3 by an auxiliary actuating circuit 9, which includes a pump 12, a valve 11 controlled by the steering wheel and lines 13, 14 connected to auxiliary actuators 4, 5. Fluid in lines 13, 14 is supplied to either end of the valve 16 to cause movement thereof via a valve 36. After a predetermined degree of movement of the main actuators 2, 3 one of two valves 7 or 8 is opened to allow flow from the higher pressure line of lines 13 and 14 to act on and close valve 36. Closure of valve 36 equalizes the pressure applied through lines 31, 32 to the ends of the valve and the valve returns to the neutral position. With valve 16 in the neutral position the supply is by-passed to drain via lines 44, 46, 42, 50 and a valve passage 49 or via valve 45. A pressure relief valve 53 is also connected between lines 46 and 42.
