Abstract
1444260 Valves G LAFON 19 Oct 1973 [26 Oct 1972] 48918/73 Heading F2V A valve assembly comprises a body 1 containing a closure flap (8, Figs. 1, 2, not shown) attached to a shaft 5 carrying a lever 12 normally held in the valve open position by engagement of a pin 13 on lever 12 within a notch 14 in a pivoted lever 15. The latter is moved to release pin 13 and permit rapid closing of the flap (8) when a stud 22 on pivoted arm 19 is urged into engagement with the underside of lever 15 at a predetermined maximum liquid level sensed by float 18 in a receptacle supplied via the valve assembly. After the flap (8) has closed under the force of the flowing liquid, a counterweight (11) on shaft 5 partially opens the flap to permit emptying of the filling hose and ensure overflow safety. Hose emptying is assisted by a hole (26) in the flap. Float arm 19 is integral with a further arm 20 having a stud 23 bearing in the position shown on the upperside of lever 12 to hold the flap open. The position of float 18 on arm 19 can be adjusted by nuts 27 on rod 24.
