Abstract

1442128 Recuperative burners BRITISH GAS CORP 25 Jan 1974 [23 Dec 1972] 59728/72 Heading F4T A recuperative burner of the type described in Specification 1,331,427 wherein the air passage 8 for the supply of air to the burner and a products passage 11 are defined by nesting coaxial tubes and are in thermal-transfer relationship with one another, is provided with means 19-23 for supplying secondary air to the products passage. The said means may be integral with the main part of the burner or suitable for ready attachment to burners of the type described. The air passage 22 is also in thermal-transfer relationship with the products passage and defined by a further coaxial tube. The said means is also described in combination with the burners of Specifications 1,332,125; 1,243,626 and 1,041,708. Air in introduced into the products passage in the direction of flow of the products by nozzles such as 47 in Fig. 11 via an annular aperture defined by two coaxial tubes. Various means for flame retention immediately downstream of the air inlet in the products passage are described including local enlargement of the products passage and positioning of baffle plates.
