Abstract

1440364 Spectacle frames R L MAILLET 1 Aug 1973 [2 Aug 1972] 36514/73 Heading G2J The frame, in which the side pieces 2 can be sprung further apart than their normally open position and are resiliently returned against the face 1 when closed, comprises hinge knuckles 4, 5 one of which (4) in (Fig. 3) has two facets 8, 9 parallel to the hinge pin. A resilient strip 15 is fixed to the part of the frame carrying the other knuckle so that its free end 15a bears against facet 8 or 9 depending on the relative angular position of the face and side piece. The opening movement of the sider piece is limited by strip 15 being pushed by the one hinge knucke into engagement with the other.
