Abstract
1439774 Fuel tanks BRIDGESTONE TIRE KK 6 Nov 1973 [16 Nov 1972] 51490/73 Heading B7H A method of manufacturing a fuel tank comprises providing at least one of two adjoining portions 1 of the tank with a two stepped flange 2, lining the inner surface of each part 1 with an elastomeric material, such as urethane, leaving the surface of the outer step free of the material, and joining the portions 1 so that the surfaces of the elastomeric material may be adhered and the portions at the outer step 2b jointed. As shown in Fig. 2 a foam 6 is filled in the tank and prevents fuel from rocking in the tank. The linings 5a on the inner step 2a are adhered to each other by an agent or by their inherent adhesiveness before hardening. The outer steps 2b are welded. In another embodiment Fig. 3, the shell of the tank consists of upper and bottom plate parts 1 and a cylindrical part, the two ends of which are formed with a two stepped flange.
