Abstract

1438586 Modified monazo dyes BASF AG 19 Oct 1973 [21 Oct 1972] 48766/73 Heading C4P The invention comprises two modifications of the dye of Formula I having X-ray diffraction graphs (CuK alpha radiation) having the following line patterns: (a) strong intensity line at an angle 2 theta of 25À3 degrees, medium intensity lines at angles 2 theta of 7À3, 13À6, 13À9, 16À7, 21À1, 23À1 and 29À0 degrees and weak intensity lines at angles 2 theta of 14À3, 18À3, 19À8, 22À6 and 26À1 degrees; and (b) strong intensity line at an angle 2 theta of 24À5 degrees, medium intensity lines at angles 2 theta of 10À9, 18À3 and 22À3 degrees and weak intensity lines at angles 2 theta of 9À0, 17À8, 20À8, 23À2, 26À2, 27À6 and 28À0 degrees. The new modifications, which give blue shades on polyester and cellulose acetate materials, may be prepared by heating the dye of the above formula (prepared by azo coupling) in an aqueous suspension which which may contain a polar organic solvent, modification (a) being mainly obtained at temperatures of 70-75‹ C. and modification (b) being mainly obtained at higher temperatures.
