Abstract

1437722 Vehicle finishing strip SILENT CHANNEL PRODUCTS Ltd 8 Feb 1974 [27 June 1973] 30639/73 Heading B7B [Also in Divisions B6 and B5] In a finishing strip for a vehicle comprising a generally channel shaped structure 1, a plurality of resilient elements 2 which may be of sheet metal, are covered by a polyvinyl material 3. A projection 4 assists in the engagement with and clamping on a flange (not shown). Opposed projections may be arranged on the inner surfaces of the strip and each projection can have a longitudinal slit to facilitate the flexing thereof. A decorative strip is positioned on an external side of the covering 3 and may be secured thereto by heat fusion or adhesive or by radio frequency welding. The decorative strip includes a polyvinyl chloride base 5, a polymeric backing layer 7, a metallic layer 8 such as aluminium, and an outer transparent polyethylene terephthalate film 9, the edges of which may be embedded in the backing layer 7, the base 5, or the covering 3. Other parts of the strip 1 which do not have a metallic appearance can be embossed or made to have a wood-like appearance, the latter being accomplished by using suitable inks, dyes, or paints.
