Abstract
1426784 Gas turbine engine re-heat equipment GENERAL ELECTRIC CO 31 Aug 1973 [8 Sept 1972] 41030/73 Headings F1J and F1L The invention relates to re-heat combustion equipment of a gas turbine jet engine and to a flameholder therefor. The flameholder comprises an inner flame ring 40 and an outer flame ring 42 disposed concentrically to provide an annular passage for flow of turbine exhaust gases therethrough the passage having an annular inlet 44 and an annular outlet 46. A screen 68 is disposed within the inlet and comprises a series of open-ended tubes 70 extending between the inner and outer flame rings. A series of circumferentially-spaced swirl vanes 48 is disposed at the downstream end of the flameholder. Pilot fuel injection devices 76 are disposed upstream of alternate swirl vanes, the injection devices having pairs of injection orifices 77, 77', whereby pilot fuel is discharged into each flow passage between adjacent swirl vanes. An ignition device 80 is provided. Main re-heat fuel is supplied through injectors 74 having discharge orifices 78 located in the gas flow passages outwardly and inwardly of the flameholder. The flameholder is supported from fixed structure by means of links 50 pivotally mounted at 52 to fixed members 54 and at 55 to piston members 58 slidably mounted in hollow tube members 60 secured between the flame rings. The main re-heat fuel injectors 74 extend through tube members 72 secured to the flame rings.
