Abstract

1420150 Automatic control of temperature GLAVERBEL-MECANIVER 24 April 1973 [28 April 1972] 19302/73 Heading G3R [Also in Divisions H3-5] In a control circuit for an electric heater employing as sensing device a thermistor having a negative temperature coefficient, when the temperature falls the resistance of the thermistor 16 increases reducing the current through the arm-of the circuit containing the thermistor so that transistors 13, 14 across that arm are rendered non-conducting thus causing current to flow to triac 12 and switch it on. With this triac conducting current is fed directly from supply 2 to heater 1. A capacitor 15 keeps the triac continuously conducting. If conversely the temperature rises transistors 13, 14 are rendered conducting by the decrease in resistance of the thermistor 16, and the triac circuit is shortcircuited, the triac is switched off and no current flows to the heater. The circuit is used to control a heated laminated window and may be integrated and encapsulated in resin, and located between the edges of the laminations.
