Abstract

1412537 Fodder and litter distribution device R A LAPIERRE 3 Jan 1974 [4 Jan 1973] 00228/74 Heading A1M A mobile machine for automatically distributing a mixture of different feeds and litter to rows of parallel feeding troughs and stalls comprises a box 8, supported on a wheeled frame 1, whose bottom is an endless conveyor 10 which moves feed in the box 8 toward an adjustable opening 12 where the feed drops into a trough 13 containing an Archimedean screw for distributing the feed to stationary feeding troughs on either side of the machine. Over the trough 13 is supported a feed hopper 15 which also has an adjustable opening 16 for regulating the fall of the hopper's contents into the trough 13. The contents of another feed hopper 19 are distributed by an Archimedean screw to containers 21, each having a base 22 which releases the contents, when a predetermined weight of feed from the hopper 19 has been delivered, into the feeding troughs. On top of the box 8 are two parallel endless conveyors 25 for carrying straw or hay bundles. The ties are removed by a device 32 which comprises heads 39 which grip the ties and cutting blades 45 and a means for moving the heads 39 so removing and then ejecting the ties. The bundles, if straw, then drop into a duct 26 and the straw is blown by a blower 31 onto the stall floor through an opening 27. If the bundles are hay, a trapdoor 30, in the base of the duct 26, is opened and the hay falls into feeding racks. The machine is powered by an electric motor 5 or an internal combustion engine.
