Abstract

1406474 Automatic circuit-breakers TOKYO SHIBAURA ELECTRIC CO Ltd 6 Nov 1972 51026/72 Heading H1N A multi-pole circuit-breaker has for each pole a pivoted latch 26, 226, 326 operable under overload conditions to free a release member (not shown) which normally holds the circuitbreaker contacts in engagement, and "actuator" means 46, 246, 346 carried by the latch and overlapping the or each latch adjacent thereto, but spaced from the or each adjacent latch. The spacing is such that the latch of one pole can unlatch the release member of that pole before causing the or each adjacent latch to unlatch the associated release member. This is stated to avoid any difference in the current setting between that for tripping initiated at a single pole and that for simultaneous multi-pole tripping. In the Figure, the latches are shown laterally displaced so as to illustrate the projections 44, 45, 244, 245, 344, 345 from the latches with which the actuator means 46, 246, 346 engage. The latches are pivoted at their upper ends and carry armatures and hooks at their lower ends for operation by electromagnetic and thermal tripping devices.
