Abstract

1400832 Mixing apparatus FISONS Ltd 22 May 1973 [6 May 1972] 21269/72 Heading B1C [Also in Division G1] In a method of and apparatus for mixing and dispensing dry particulate materials the particles are fed in laminated flow to a single mixer/conveyor device which discharges directly or indirectly to metering means for dispensing metered amounts of the mixed materials into receptacles. In a fertilizer blending and bag-filling plant hoppers lA, 1B, 1C with continuous belt weigh feeders 2A, 2B 2C feed material onto a conveyor belt 3 to provide a laminated or stratified feed of particulate materials A, B, C to a bucket elevator 4. The buckets 5 of the elevator 4 are provided with rounded bottoms to ensure mixing of the materials, any spillage into the sump of the elevator being further mixed as the buckets churn therethrough. The elevator discharges through a vibratory screen 7 to a sampler X which discharges optionally through a rotatable spreader into a hopper 6 with a pair of batch weighers 8 discharging into sacks 9. The belts of the weigh feeders 2A, 2B, 2C are provided with flap switches 10A, 10B, 10C to allow priming of the belts and the feeders are started in sequence with suitable time delay to ensure that feed from the belt 3 to the elevator 4 commences with the materials present on the belt in the desired laminated arrangement.
