Abstract

1399093 Endotracheal tubes MATBURN (HOLDINGS) LTD 9 June 1972 [11 June 1971] 27425/71 Heading A5R A nasal tracheal tube 1 has an inflatable cuff 3 near its lower end 2, which is adapted to be inserted into a patient, and has for reinforcement a helical member 4 embedded in the part of the. tube wall which the cuff 3 overlies. The tube 1 is made from latex and the member 4 is made from plastics, e.g. nylon, or wire. The lower end face of the tube is bevelled. A rigid metal or plactics insert 7 provides a connection to a respiratory machine. The cuff 3 is inflated through a tube 9 having an air supply connection 11 and a balloon portion 10. In a modification, Fig 3 (not shown) ribs or flutes (6) extending along the external surface of the sleeve. The tube may be attached to a patient by means of loops or eyelets 8. The tube may carry an indicator line 5.
