Abstract

1387268 Boots &c STYLO MATCHMAKERS INTERNATIONAL LTD 4 July 1972 [28 July 1971] 35432/71 Heading A3B [Also in Division B5] In a method of making the upper of an article of footwear or part thereof, a preformed portion adapted to form a decorative insert is located in a mould prior to injecting moulding material thereinto. The insert may be pressed into a recess provided with retaining lips. Alternatively a plurality of pins may be provided in the mould or on the insert engaging in holes provided in the insert or mould respectively. One side of the insert may be stuck to the mould so as to be readily peelable, the other side of the insert being coated with a bonding agent such as a polyurethane cement. The insert may be of a contrasting colour and may include lace holes, guides or hooks. The insert may reproduce e.g. a strap and buckle arranged across the shoe instep. Reference has been directed by the comptroller to Specification 1,307,615.
