1378690 Razors GILLETTE INDUSTRIES Ltd 21 Feb 1973 [22 Feb 1972] 8103/72 Heading B4B [Also in Division B8] The combination of a head unit 7 for a safety razor and a protective casing 20 for the head unit wherein the head unit comprises at least one blade 10 and a member providing a guard surface 12, the head unit being detachably engageable with the handle 6 and wherein the casing is adapted to receive a single head unit and to retain the latter therein against accidental removal in such a manner that the cutting edge of the, or each, blade is protected against damage and wherein the head unit is engageable by the handle while the unit is still within the case, the head unit when engaged with the handle being withdrawable from the casing by means of the handle. The casing which is made from a resilient transparent plastics material, is formed with a lip 31 and projecting pad surfaces 30, 33, Fig. 2. To insert a head unit into the casing, the head unit is tilted so as to engage a shoulder 13 thereon with the inside edge of the lip and by camming the guard surface 12 over the pad 33, the resilience of the casing allows the head unit to be gripped between the pads 30, 33 thereby keeping the cutting edge of the blade away from the walls of the casing. To withdraw the blade unit from the casing flanges 8 on the handle are moved through an opening 27, Fig. 1, in the casing to thereby engage with mating flanges 9 on the blade unit, the handle then being moved to spring the unit out of the casing. A number of blade casings 20 may be retained in a plastics box 40, the casings being pressed into the box one at a time so that projections 25, 26 on the units engage with flanges 45, Fig. 3, on the box. The casings are removed from the box by sliding them, one at a time as required, over ratchet teeth projections 47 on the box which allow movement in one direction only.
