Abstract

1361787 Fuel injection pumps ROBERT BOSCH GmbH 29 Sept 1971 [30 Sept 1970] 45263/71 Heading F1A A delivery valve for a fuel injection pump comprises a spring loaded valve body 20 having a piston portion 39 for sucking back fuel from the injector line 28 during valve closure, and a profiled control member 40 which, during valve opening, enters a guide bore 32 progressively to throttle the flow therethrough with increasing valve lift. Whereas with a conventional valve the increased throttling of spillage from the pump working chamber 16 with increasing speed causes the delivery to increase, the throttling by the control member 40 of the present valve causes a reduction of the delivery with increasing speed. A throttle passage may be provided through the suck-back piston portion 39. The control member may be cylindrical with a ground inclined flat 41 or a truncated cone disposed with its base remote from the guide bore.
