Abstract

1342528 Pressure sensitive adhesives containing block copolymers ADHESIVE TAPES Ltd 2 June 1972 [9 June 1971] 19804/71 Headings C3P and C3R A pressure-sensitive adhesive comprises (a) at least one styrene-butadiene block copolymer, preferably a blend of styrene-b-butadiene-bstyrene polymer and styrene-co-butadiene-bstyrene polymer, (b) a normally solid resinous tackifier and (c) at least 25% of (a) of a resinous tackifier having a viscosity less than 500,000 cP at 25‹ C. Suitable components (b) include rosin esters, e.g. with pentaerythritol, hydrocarbon tackifying resins, and alpha terpene and terpene-phenolic resins. Suitable (c) components include low molecular weight styrene-butadiene polymers, polystyrenes, a polyindene copolymer, polyalphamethylstyrenes and polyvinyl methyl ethers, commercial hydrocarbon resins, liquid rosin esters and chlorinated diphenyl.
