Abstract

1336568 Hydraulic & pneumatic actuators UNION CARBIDE CORP 27 Aug 1970 [27 Aug 1969] 22263/72 Divided out of 1336567 Heading F1D [Also in Divisions F2 and H1] A pressure relief valve for a fluid-tight container, such as an alkaline galvanic cell, comprises a resiliently deformed spherical ball 48 in contact with a valve seat surrounding a vent orifice 49, and a retainer 43 for compressing the ball into a flattened configuration, the ball being capable of further temporary deformation to allow gas pressure to escape through the orifice. The retainer is formed by a protruberance on a cap 42 held in assembled relation with a cover 45 by an annular seal 47 and a disc shaped spring 44 between the bottom cover 40 of the cell and the cap 42. The remainder of the subject-matter is similar to that in Specification 1336567.
