Abstract

1334959 Two-part couplings BUNKER RAMO CORP 18 Jan 1971 [19 Jan 1970] 2393/71 Heading H2E A two-part coupling comprises a locking means for either securing the two parts in the coupled position, or as shown, holding together the various components of one of the parts, the locking means comprising relatively rotatable rings 11, 12 with facing annular surfaces 13, 14, a leaf detent spring 16 between the rings having an annular portion 17 and an end portion 19 biased to the left to engage in slot 15 in ring 11 on rotation of the latter to a particular angular position, portion 17 being movable out of the slot 15 into slot 20 in ring 12 manually to allow rotation of ring 11 and a further detent spring portion (21) engaging a slot (22) in ring 12 to prevent rotation of the spring relative to ring 12. In the filtered connector i] lustrated, insulating members 27, 28 have aligned apertures for pin contacts such as 31, the filter portion of which includes capacitor electrode 32 in contact with earthed plate 34 sandwiched between members 27, 28. Rotation of ring 11 threaded on shell 25 to the locked position shown has drawn cylindrical insert 37 to the left because of abutting shoulders 50, 51. Ring 12 is fixed to member 37 by radial screws (48) (Fig. 1, not shown) after the locked position has been preset in assembling. In the locked position, members 27, 28 tightly engage plate 34, and sealing O-rings 41, 42 are brought into operation. The receptacle member shown is completed by resilient insulating member 44 with passages for contacts 31 and their associated wires 45.
