Abstract

1333514 Dishwashing machines W A HANSEN 26 April 1972 [28 April 1971] 19346/72 Heading A4F A portable apparatus for washing glassware and adapted to be set upon a conventional sink, comprises a compartment 20 containing a rotary sprayer 30 and means such as rails 28 for supporting a tray or basket for holding the glassware, a compartment 50 projecting into the sink 14 during use and containing a submersible pump 60 for supplying washing liquid to the sprayer from the sink 14, and control means whereby the sprayer 30 is connected selectively either to the pump 60 or to the hot and cold water supply connections to the sink. After the sink 14 has been filled with water an electrical timer switch 35 is actuated to energize the pump 60 which passes water from the sink 14 into a holding tank 64 and thence to the sprayer 30. The sprayed water washes detergent from a receptacle in the compartment door 26. The filling of the tank 64 lowers the washing liquid level in the sink 14 so that a float 86 so pivots a trough 82 Fig. 3 (not shown) that the sprayed liquid is returned to the sink 14. At the end of a washing cycle the pump 60 is de-energized and washing liquid returns from the tank 64 to the sink 14 to raise the float 86 to tilt the trough (82) so that rinsing water subsequently supplied to the compartment 20 is directed to a drain. Hot or cold rinsing water is supplied via a pipe 72 when a solenoid valve 74 is opened, a sanitizer or wetting agent being added by an injector device 76. A heater 58 and a thermostat regulate the temperature of the washing liquid in the sink 14.
