Abstract

1329989 Feeding sheets XEROX CORP 21 Dec 1970 [31 Dec 1969] 60544/70 Heading B8R In a reproducing machine of the kind having an aperture 60 in the machine housing through which documents to be copied are fed, e.g. to a document drum 14 having grippers 38, the feed path through the aperture is restricted by a sensing member, e.g. by a resiliently biased, pivotable bar 70 of "J" cross-section, mounted adjacent the aperture, means being responsive to movement of the sensing member, e.g. by a crumpled or torn document or by an operator's hand &c. to inactivate the document drum. A lever 72 fixed to the sensing bar 70 activates a limit switch 76 to inactivate the document drum. Documents may be fed to the aperture via an inclined shelf 58, a portion 54 of the housing, containing the aperture 60, being upwardly pivotable to facilitate the removal of faulty sheets from the drum 14.
