Abstract

1320283 Endless belt press SANDCO Ltd 18 Nov 1971 [3 Dec 1970] 53620/71 Heading B5A Sheets, e.g. chipboard, are pressed between two endless steel belts 1 by pressure transmitted from adjustable elements 6 through rollers 5a, 5b which are controlled to travel in the direction of belts 1 and to roll along the pressing elements 6 while remaining directly opposite each other. The ends of the rollers are mounted in endless chains 4a, 4b which are driven through sprockets 3a, 3b. Connected together by ad adjustable chain drive (not shown) to travel in opposite directions in synchronism. Alternatively the chains may be separately driven and kept in synchronism by an electric servo system and may also travel in synchronism with the belts 1 to prevent slippage when pressing veneered boards. The chains may be replaced by guide rracks and the travel of the individual rollers controlled in response to magnetic or electric sensors.
