Abstract

1277555 Railway vehicle couplings MIDLAND ROSS CORP 19 April 1971 [23 March 1970] 25053/71 Heading B7T A Janney type railway vehicle coupling is provided with an auxiliary lug 40 mounted on the bottom portion of a shelf 30 having a ramp surface 43 positioned to slide beneath the shelf of a counter coupling to correct vertical misalignment, the lug terminating forwardly of the knuckle when closed. The lower interlocking lug 27 projects forwardly of wing pocket 25 and is provided with a front surface 50, bevelled surfaces51, 52, 53 and 54, top and bottom surfaces 55, 56 lateral surfaces 57, 58 and further bevelled surfaces 59, 60. The guard arm nose 18 is provided with curved side surfaces 65, 66, top and bottom sloping surfaces 67, 68, upper and lower flat horizontal surfaces 69, 70, top and bottom inclined surfaces 71, 72 and a chamfered surface 73.
