Abstract

1275720 Storage heater KABEL UND METALLWERKE GUTEHOFFNUNGSHUTTE AG 9 March 1970 [14 March 1969] 11195/70 Heading F4U [Also in Divisions H3-H5] An electric heater comprises embedded in a cast material 4 a heating mat similar to that disclosed in Specification 1,182,529 formed by attaching a metal sheathed, helically corrugated, longitudinally seam welded resistance heating element 1 in meander fashion to metal bands 2, one side of the heater so formed being provided with a layer 3 of thermally insulating material. The heater may be attached by brackets 5 to a vertical wall with the thermally insulating layer 3 adjacent the wall or may be laid as a floor heater. The heater is manufactured by pouring about two-thirds of a casting composition, e.g. a synthetic resin or floor surfacing composition into a flat mould, laying the heating mat 1, 2 on this cast composition and covering it with the remaining casting composition. When the composition 4 has set polyurethane foam heat insulation 3 and the brackets 5 are applied. The heater may be used to heat ceilings, roads or runways. If the layer of cast material 4 is made sufficiently thick, a storage heater is formed.
