Abstract

1,264,302. Cased stanchions. W. N. LEWIS. 17 Feb., 1969 [17 Nov., 1967], No. 52390/ 67. Headings E1K and E1W. A fire resistant layer 102 surrounding a steel stanchion 101 is itself surrounded by a protective sheath 103 of e.g. stainless steel or plastics sheathed metal, the fire resistant layer 102 comprising particles of vermiculite or asbestos fibres dispersed in a binding material such as cement or gypsum. The stanchion may be hollow, of circular or rectangular crosssection and filled with concrete or of I section or cruciform section.
