Abstract
1,259,627. I.C. engine air filter. FILTERWERK MANN & HUMMEL G.m.b.H. 21 March, 1969 [21 March, 1968], No. 14869/69. Heading B1T. [Also in Divisions F1 and F2] The ratio of cold and warm air flowing to an I.C. engine filter 1 via ducts 5, 6 is controlled by a flap 8 pivoted at 7 and positioned by a thermally responsive element 9 sensing the temperature of the mixture entering the filter. Element 9 acts via rod 14, spring seat 22, 25 over-travel spring 15, rod 16, 17 and arm 18. A return spring 19 also engages seat 22 and acts in parallel with spring 15 during overtravel. In a modification rod 16, 17 is slidable in the adjacent end of sleeve 21 whose other end is then optionally rigid with seat 22, 25.
