Abstract

1,257,968. Packing machine; endless conveyers; feeding sweets. F. THEEGARTEN. 5 Feb., 1969 [14 March, 1968], No. 6182/69. Headings B8A, B8C and B8S. Sweets 13, Fig. 3, carried in laterally open pockets 12 of a rotary dish or disc 10 are pushed from the rear by pins 15 on an endless chain conveyer 14 towards a wrapping tubing 29, Fig. 1, the speed of the pins 15 on the curved portion of their paths when they engage the sweets, being less than the chain speed. The pins 15 are each supported on a respective member 17 connected to the conveyer 14 and projecting inwardly. To avoid damage to the sweet each pin contacts a sweet at an instant when the direction as well as the velocity of the pin and the sweet are the same. A drive shaft 31 drives the conveyer as well as the disc 10, the motion to the disc 10 being through a crank mechanism 35 so that the disc has a varying non-uniform angular speed. Flexible wrapper 29 for the tubing is taken off a roll 28. The sweets are fed into further packing means via belts or bands 30.
