Abstract
1,257,419. Parenteral injection devices. FORT DAVID LABORATORIES Inc. 17 April, 1970, No. 16332/70. Heading ASR. [Also in Division B8] In a parenteral solution container 13 and delivery cap 11 therefor, the cap has a skirt which is secured to the sealed container by a flange 38 on a flexible sleeve 36 and wraps over a flange 34 on the container neck, and a top portion having a hollow needle 20 for puncturing a sealing diaphragm 18 when the latter is positioned in the container neck, the needle having a pasage 21, e.g. leading to a drip chamber 22 and delivery hose 32. A further passage 24 may lead to an air filter unit 25. Alternatively two needles (60), (61), Fig. 3 (not shown), are provided. In operation the delivery cap is screwed, as in Fig. 1, or pushed, as in Fig. 3 (not shown), downwardly to cause the needle or needles to pierce the container sealing diaphragm 18. The container is then inverted to allow parenteral solution to flow through the passage 21.
