Abstract

1,253,845. Medical dressing. DUNLOP HOLDINGS Ltd. 15 April, 1969 [16 April, 1968], No. 17758/68. Heading B5N. [Also in Divisions A5 and B2] A medical dressing comprises an assembly of two or more superposed sheets of open cell plastics foam, the assembly having one face less highly compressed than the other which is provided with an adhesive and which has a sterile fibrous material attached thereto. The assembly is made by joining the sheets by adhesive or melting the surfaces and passing the laminate between a pair of rollers which are at different temperatures. The adhesive may be applied to the outer edges which may be more highly compressed than the central portion. The more highly compressed face may be coated with silicone. Suitable foams are polyester or polyether polyurethane, P.V.C., polystyrene, polyethylene or polypropylene. The adhesive is preferably an acrylic but polyurethane, natural rubber, butadiene/styrene, polyisobutylene and polyvinyl ether adhesives may also be used.
