A mixing and kneading apparatus has one or more kneading arms 3a 3b supported at each end by shafts 2a 2b having pressure resistant seals 4, 5, 6, 7; the blades are detachable from the shafts, to which they are connected by pins as at 18 coaxial with the respective shafts, retained by screws 19 and locked against rotation by screws 20. The housing 1 has a replaceable liner 21 retained by bolts 22.
